Reception March 9, 6:00 pm

Artist talk 6:15 pm

Daniel Phill is drawn to the interplay of an optimistic color palette against a soothing background which creates surreal, vibrant botanical environments. Extended drips of paint serve to imply stems while gestural paint-loaded brushstrokes suggest petals and blossoms.

Impressionism Today

Feb. 20 – Mar. 15, 2015

Featuring Dominique Caron, Ken Christensen, John Karl Claes. The influence of the French Impressionists began to reach California by the early 1890s through the travels of East Coast artists and visits of California painters to art schools in Europe and especially visits to the artist colony which was growing around Monet’s Giverny. Early California painters found the Impressionist techniques of plein air painting, bright palette perfectly suited for the bright light and natural beauty of California.
