Bella Flora: Kalani Engles

June 10 - 28, 2021
The artist’s rhythmic brushwork, sophisticated compositional sense and exuberant palette gives her work a freshness and energy that is distinctly her own. Her work varies from the abstract to organic, including bright, whimsical paintings and monotypes.

The Studio Shop Gallery will be exhibiting recent paintings by Kalani Engles, created during the past year and inspired by nature.

Engles’ inspiration comes from decades of walking amongst the natural beauty of many areas of the planet. She currently divides her time between California’s San Francisco Bay Area and the coastal region of North Carolina. Her paintings, prints and drawings are dominated by natural forms, plants, flowers, vines, leaves that are born in Engles’ imagination. The lush vegetation is not intended to be identifiable plants, but rather organic shapes that will themselves come to life through the process of applying paint to canvas.
