Wild: Northern California Landscapes by Jung Han Kim

Highlighting the visceral and visual drama of Sonoma and Mendocino, Studio Shop Gallery presents “Wild: Northern California Landscapes,” a show of landscape paintings of Jung Han Kim exhibiting November 4 to 26.

Known for depicting urban scenes of his home city of San Francisco, Kim moved to Sonoma County in 2014 and began painting his surroundings with an impasto technique that lends itself to the untamed nature of Northern California. His strokes and colors are abstract and physical.

“As Kim explores his canvas, mixing and layering paint, he taps into the silent energy of emotion coming from the depth of his landscapes. The earth comes alive in his new works.
– Janet Martin, Gallery Owner

“My heart has taken a lot of inspiration from Sonoma. Its light, air, hills, trees, and waters are magnificent. They touch my heart so easily and so smoothly. Its energy, profundity, and vitality have become the main columns of my works as I feel them knowingly and unknowingly each and every day.”
