Studio Shop Gallery is pleased to present The Shape of Nature, a vibrant summer exhibition bringing together three internationally recognized artists whose distinct practices offer compelling interpretations of the natural world. Featuring monumental landscape paintings by Foad Satterfield, striking new bronze sculptures by Kristine Taylor, and the inventive sculptural works of celebrated Colombian artist Federico Uribe, the exhibition explores the many forms, textures, and dimensions of nature through an extraordinary range of artistic expression.
Although each artist works in a vastly different medium, all share a profound fascination with the rhythms, beauty, and spirit of the natural world. Satterfield's luminous, large-scale paintings evoke expansive landscapes that balance abstraction and representation, capturing the emotional essence of place rather than its literal appearance. His richly layered surfaces invite viewers to immerse themselves in moments of stillness, light, and atmosphere.
Emerging from these painted environments are Kristine Taylor's newest bronze sculptures, anchored by the exhibition's centerpiece: a commanding life-size Black Panther. Celebrated for her remarkable ability to capture both strength and vulnerability, Taylor imbues her wildlife sculptures with an unmistakable sense of movement and presence. Each bronze reveals an intimate understanding of animal anatomy while conveying the quiet dignity and enduring spirit of its subject.
Completing the dialogue is internationally acclaimed Colombian sculptor Federico Uribe, whose imaginative works transform unexpected everyday materials into astonishing representations of animals and organic forms. A former student of conceptual artist Luis Camnitzer, Uribe has exhibited extensively in museums and public institutions around the world. His playful yet sophisticated sculptures challenge conventional notions of materiality, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between nature, craftsmanship, and human invention.
Together, these three artists demonstrate that nature can be experienced in countless ways. Not only through paint and bronze, but also through unexpected textures, recycled materials, and sculptural form. The Shape of Nature celebrates the richness of artistic interpretation, where landscapes, wildlife, and organic forms transcend medium to become immersive experiences that engage the eye, the imagination, and the senses.
Join us this August for an inspiring celebration of summer, where painting and sculpture converge to reveal the enduring beauty, complexity, and wonder of the natural world.
