Studio Shop Gallery presents Passing Moments, an exhibition of new figurative works by London-based artist Melinda Matyas and California artist Carole Rafferty.
Drawing inspiration from the rhythms of everyday life, Matyas and Rafferty capture people in moments both intimate and familiar—resting, reading, gathering, wandering, caring for one another, or lost in thought. Their subjects appear caught between moments, unaware of being observed, allowing small gestures and fleeting expressions to carry the narrative.
While distinct in palette and approach, both artists find significance in the ordinary. Their paintings explore connection and solitude, tenderness and introspection, transforming seemingly commonplace scenes into evocative reflections on how we move through the world and relate to one another.
Passing Moments is ultimately an observation of life as it unfolds: imperfect, intimate, and beautifully human.
