Overview

Tom Soltesz is a California plein air painter whose fresh colors and spontaneous brushstrokes capture the spirit of the Golden State in her glory. The artist spends most of his time painting outdoors, observing the changing light and capturing it in oil for his collectors.

Soltesz, early in his career, studied fine art at the Colorado Institute of Art. After a job in graphic design which took him around the world to Manila, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Australia and New Guinea, he returned to the U.S. and majored in fine art and illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

Soltesz is a member of the California Art Club and has won numerous awards in plein air competitions throughout the state. The artist’s work is collected by the San Jose Sharks, Maria Shriver, Arnold Palmer, and Borel Bank. He is listed in the Library of Congress as a “Living Legend of California.”
