Continuing a tradition of celebrating Bay Area artists with an edge, Studio Shop Gallery presents “Let’s Get Real,” a show of paintings in the realism genre by artist Paul Gibson running from May 12 through May 31, with a rare chance to hear from the artist at a cocktail reception on Saturday, May 14 from 4 – 7 pm. Gibson’s paintings examine the everyday objects that surround us. He has produced sculpture, drawings and paintings out of his San Francisco studio for 30 years.
Gibson has been exhibited nationwide, including the SF Fine Arts Fair, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, Allan Stone Gallery in New York and Art Basel Miami. His work is part of the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Achenbach Collection in San Francisco. Born in 1957, Gibson studied Architecture at Cal Poly, received a BFA from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and was awarded a full painting scholarship
“Exploring simple everyday objects with spatial ambiguity and perceptual perspective inspires me. I want the viewer to feel they are able to push, catch, touch the objects they see on a flat picture plane.”
– PAUL GIBSON, ARTIST
