Timothy Mulligan received a degree in Fine Art from CSU, Sacramento. He studied under many notable artists such as Gregory Kondos and Gerald Walberg.  He is a California Artist who combines the influences of the Bay Area Figurative Movement with the contemporary Sacramento Valley painters’ hyper-colorful effects to create his landscapes and cityscapes.  Mulligan’s paintings are inspired by real subjects and locations, oftentimes built upon compositions using abstracted planes of bright color and re-imagined forms.

The artist’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Northern and Central California and in the Bay Area. He has received numerous Regional, National, and International art awards.  His work has been featured in multiple issues of The Artist’s Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, American Art Collector, and International Artist Magazine.

What inspired me to be a painter was learning about the late 1800's French Impressionist painters; studying their work, reading their letters, and seeing the Impressionism exhibits at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.
