Kay Marshall received a degree in art from the University of Wisconsin. Through figurative, landscape, and calligraphic abstractions she explores the ideas of impermanence, separation, and the relationship between order and chaos. During the process of her work, the artist seeks to balance the intuitive and analytical urges within herself.

Marshall’s work is driven by the process of painting and mono printing. Beginning with a rough sketch or drawing, she layers, reworks, and scratches into the surface to uncover hidden forms and colors. She finds the form of mono print exciting because of its spontaneity and the uniqueness of each print. Unable to control the outcome of every print, she must let go and trust the result.
